The "We Days" at FACO

Current topic

An insight into our team development days.

How well we function as a team in the future will be a key factor in our success. We are convinced that good cooperation strengthens our self-confidence, increases our performance and reduces staff turnover.

A recessionary economy, little ability to plan due to various crises flaring up are currently making us sweat. To better deal with the challenges, we want to make greater use of our internal potential and are focusing on strategic team development.

For example, with the support of Petra Diederich-Kammel, we held the "We Days" for FACO and our SCS business unit for the first time in October.

Planning and implementation

We had started planning for the two-day seminar in August, as the preparation took some time. Only with the complete staff can the workshop unfold its full potential. Everyone should be free from professional tasks. Therefore, we scheduled the event to take place on a Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. We credited these times to the employees as working time. For a relaxed atmosphere, we moved to a nice external location near us, including good food to end the day.

As a basis for the workshop, each person was sent a survey. This was filled out in advance and sent to Petra Diederich-Kammel. The contents were, for example, how superiors are assessed, which improvements and changes are desirable in the future and an assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of our company. The overall result of the evaluation was very good to good. The contents were critically scrutinized and discussed in the workshop. We did not shy away from open words, either in the group or in dialogues.

Not taking the good for granted

Admittedly, the result of the survey and the subsequent processing was a bit of a surprise. After all, as mentioned at the beginning, the past period was full of challenges and a lot was demanded of each individual. In the meantime, this was also reflected in internal communication, the somewhat uneven distribution of work due to difficult job planning and the lack of individual support. This had led us to expect a worse result.

Not entirely without pride, we noted that the FACO corporate culture basically functions well and represents a strong foundation. On this basis, we are able to compensate for isolated dissatisfactions and reconcile misunderstandings caused by stress, as there is a basic trust in our ability and in the collective performance.

But the other side of the truth also includes the realization that the good results represent a status quo and it does not have to stay that way in the future. We must not take our privileges for granted. In the workshop, we learned to work on ourselves so that community spirit and team spirit are maintained and every person in the company perceives themselves as part of the FACO world.

We will therefore continue with the We Days at the beginning of the coming year and report on them in another blog post.
